About the company:

The Museum of History of the Krasnoye Sormovo plant was established in 1967 on the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution on the initiative of the Veterans Council, the Party Committee, the Komsomol Committee and the plant administration. In 2004 it was merged with the factory museum of underwater shipbuilding. Every year the museum is visited by thousands of people from all over Russia, from near and far abroad.

The departments of the museum reflect the formation and development of the station wagon plant, whose products are widely known in Russia and abroad. The expositions tell about the main milestones in the history of shipbuilding from the founding of the plant (1849) to the present day.

Special attention in the museum exposition is paid to the founder of the plant - co-founder of the Nizhny Novgorod Machine Factory and the Volga towing and import shipping company - Dmitry Yegorovich Benardaki.

For its more than a century and a half history, the plant, which became the center of river shipbuilding in Russia, was awarded gold medals of prestigious world and all-Russian exhibitions, five orders of the USSR, and during the Great Patriotic War it was transferred to the eternal storage of the Banner of the State Defense Committee of the USSR. These relics are kept in the museum of the history of the plant.

The museum has a large number of models of ships and other products of the plant, as well as documents and photographs of great historical value. The museum contains materials about the people who created the glory of the legendary plant.

The museum is open to visitors on the days and hours established by the order of the General Director of PJSC “Plant “Red Sormovo”
