Sunday National Museum of Local Lore

Nizhny Novgorod Region, Resurrection District, Voskresenskoe Rp, Pushkin Street, 55

About the company:

The estate complex is a monument of history and architecture of regional significance. A significant part of the estate is occupied by a linden park, broken up in 1904. The main building of the estate was built in 1905 and is a wooden mansion in Art Nouveau style with elements of Russian wooden architecture. The windows in the frame of carved casings and cornices are as if shrouded in a thin lace carving.

In the hall of S.N. Belyaev’s mansion, a historical painting of the plafond (a bright and typical example of monumental and decorative painting of eclecticism) has been preserved, reflecting the motifs of the rafting of forests in Povetluzhye, and the form of the building itself refers to belyan: a huge flat-bottomed barque that served at the turn of the XIX-XXX centuries for rafting wood along the Vetluga and Volga.

Since 1977, the Resurrection Museum of Local History has been located in the estate of S.N. Belyaev.

The exposition of the museum reveals the theme of construction and rafting of whites in Voskresensky district through the history of the family of the merchant of the second guild, timberman Sergei Nikanorovich Belyaev. The museum also reflects the history of merchant and peasant life of the turn of the XIX - early XX century and the main milestones in the history of the district during the Great Patriotic War.

In the estate of S.N. Belyaev, excursions, master classes, quests and folk games based on authentic local history material are held.
