The museum tells about the history and nature of the Don region. In the section "Paleontology of the Don" the fossilized remains of animals and plants are exhibited. The hall "Archaeology of the Don" presents tools of primitive man, objects of Scythian-Sarmatian culture, antiquity of the Greek colony of Tanais and the Tatar city of Azak. Herbaria, stuffed animals, birds, fish introduce the nature of the Don. The historical section occupies 3 halls, where samples of weapons of the XVII-XIX centuries, trophies of the Don Cossacks, military banners and regalia are exhibited. On the second floor, in a special hall, there are military relics of the inhabitants of the Don region of the period of the II World War, the art section contains paintings by academician N. N. Dubovsky (1858-1918), a collection of porcelain and furniture of the XIX century. A separate hall is occupied by the exhibition "Ataman portrait of the XVIII-XX centuries." |
