The Museum in Novorossiysk was established in 1916 on the initiative of the Black Sea Vice-Governor L.A.Senko-Popovsky as the Museum of Nature and History of the Black Sea Coast of the Caucasus. 7 July 1916 the Charter of the Museum was registered. The exhibition was opened on December 27, 1916. The collection is based on materials that were collected since 1894 for the future museum and stored in the museum. City library.
