Maritime station
Description:
Novorossiysk is a beautiful city on the Black Sea coast, the largest commercial and, in the recent past, passenger port. The favorite resting place of the city residents is the Embankment of Admiral Serebryakova, which originates from the building of the Novorossiysk Sea Station.
The building of the Marine Station is distinguished by the originality of the architectural solution. Its left wing is crowned with a huge circular superstructure in the form of a “flying saucer”. Huge windows of the "plate" open a view of the panorama of piers, mountains, beaches, old and new residential buildings, factories on the east side. Novorossiysk Sea Station was equipped with the requirements of modern tourist business. Here, comfortable places for rest, restaurants, shops, currency exchange offices were created for passengers of sea cruise ships.
A few years ago, there was a stormy life in the station building. However, in recent years, passenger traffic has sharply decreased, and the building is practically not used for its intended purpose. Today, its spacious premises host a variety of exhibitions, there are mass public events.
At the deep-water pier, directly opposite the building of the Marine Station, the cruiser-museum Mikhail Kutuzov froze in the eternal parking lot. For many decades, the artillery cruiser served to protect the interests of the state, and today it stands above the water surface as a monument to the fleet and era.
