The museum was founded in 1977. Since 1992 the exposition shows everyday life, working life, social activity of Novorzhevsky district. The exhibition is partially open. Visitors can visit the peasant hut, get acquainted with household items, tools, toys of Novorzhev peasants. Before the revolution, Novorzhev had the status of a merchant and philistine city. The museum presents a merchant’s shop, with a characteristic product, documents for trading permission and the construction of a store, to which the museum is attached. The visitor can start a gramophone in 1900, work on a sewing machine "Saxony" of the XIX century. The museum presents extensive information about self-government, public figures of the museum in photos and documents. Museum staff actively help schools, clubs, libraries of the district in information on local history. For the visitor amazing novelty information about the life of the town in the Zemstvo period. For many, the birth of health care, school and library business, cultural institutions in 1872-1917 in the country on the example of a small settlement. Visitors are interested in documents of that period about entrepreneurs and their activities. |
