timiryazev Street, 71/1, Novosibirsk

About the company:

Novosibirsk Zoo with an area of 60 hectares accommodates about 11,000 individuals of 702 species, of which 120 are listed in the International Red Book and 180 in the Red Book of Russia and regional Red Books. The largest collection of the zoo is the family of cats and maroons, which are bred in the zoo.

The history of the zoo began to take shape in 1933, when the zoo contained only 50 species of birds and 35 species of animals, which were the objects of research by schoolchildren and researchers. Later, the zoo was rebuilt, modernized and replenished its collection with new species of animals and birds. The first exotic species began to appear in the zoo, but due to the harsh climate of Western Siberia, the zoo began to pay more attention to local species, especially kunya and cats. In 1985, the zoo’s collection consisted of 271 species, represented by 824 individuals.
