The Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is the same age as the Victory, its first performance - the opera by M.I. Glinka "Ivan Susanin" - took place on May 12, 1945. Unique in architecture and engineering structures, the building of the theater is a symbol of Novosibirsk. It began to be built in 1931. In 1937, the project of the building (authors M. Kurilko, A. October 1947 is considered the date of foundation of the theater museum, since the moment of arrival in the theater R. Mayer is the first head of the museum. In 1984, the museum was awarded the title "People's Museum". Currently, the exposition of the museum is closed to the public (renovation of the museum and exhibition hall is being completed - 150 square meters). Museum collections are formed by sections: documentary (programs, posters, booklets), photographic, picturesque (sketch), material (gifts, objects, etc.). Since the beginning of the 90s (the closing period of the exposition), the museum has been holding exhibition activities (thematic exhibitions in the foyer of the theater), as well as active excursion work around the theater-monument of architecture and history. The building of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater was recognized as a monument of architecture, history and culture of Republican (later Federal) significance (resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR No. 624 of 04.12.1974, certificate of protection No. 21-95 of 19.12.1995). In 2002-2003, a large material was prepared for printing, based on the data of the museum archive, for an encyclopedia for the 110th anniversary of Novosibirsk on the work of the theater and its creative workers for 58 years. Each exhibit is priceless and expensive for the theater museum, young by historical standards. But there are exhibits that can be considered especially important and valuable. The Photographic Fund of the Theatre (1931-1940) Almost all the photos of this section are dated, described and reflect the chronicle of the construction of the theater from the day of laying the first stone to the early 40s. Subsequently, pre-war and wartime, chronicle photography was interrupted. This fund has about 1000 unique photos of the period of all 30-ies of the last century.
