A.M. Gorky Palace of Culture

Description:

A.M. Gorky Palace of Culture on Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street. The largest DK of its time in Novosibirsk. Built in 1957. It was built according to a standard project, but architects A.S. Mikhailov and V.S. Vnukov tried to solve the urban planning problem when linking the building - to create an ensemble in the street. The square-Kurdoner on the highway is equipped with residential four-storey houses, to which in the depth of the square adjoined six-storey tower residential extensions, crowned with small “belvedere” (towers), symmetrically flanking the House of Culture. On the opposite side of the street along the axis of symmetry of the building, a typical high school was built, also of a symmetrical composition, with a slight depth from the red line. Thus, the coordinated planning of this section of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street created a truly architecturally organized ensemble, which was a rare example in the architecture of the city, to which many architects constantly and unsuccessfully sought.
