The Temple of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God
Description:
In 1925, a wooden church was erected in the city cemetery of Novosibirsk in honor of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God, accommodating about 400 people. In 1920-1930, mass destruction and closure of temples began. Many clergymen were arrested, and by 1941, only one functioning church remained in the city and region - the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God.
The small Assumption Church for some time acted as a cathedral for Vladyka Bartholomew. He performed his first service here three days after arriving in Novosibirsk, on the feast of the Assumption of the Mother of God. December 9, 1945 in the Assumption Church performed the consecration and raising of bells with a cross. In total, 8 bells were raised, the first of which was raised the heaviest - weighing 12 kilograms, and then - 8 kilograms and the rest small, weighing 400-600 grams.
During the Great Patriotic War, the temple served as a central cathedral. The priests of the church collected donations for the needs of the front. Nowadays, this place attracts many tourists and pilgrims, and also carries great historical and architectural value.
