Description:

The church in the name of Eugene the Martyr at the Zaeltsov cemetery is recognized as one of the most beautiful temples of Novosibirsk. The church was built by a mother grieving for her deceased son, permission to build a sanctuary near the Zaeltsovsky cemetery was received personally from the bishop of Novosibirsk and Berd Tikhon. Since the son bore the name Eugene, the temple was consecrated in honor of the holy martyr Eugene.

The basis of the project was the church of the XVII century, the construction plan was developed by architect Irina Rudenko. The first stone in the construction of the temple was laid on November 5, 1992. The first liturgy took place in the already built church in 1993.

The temple in the name of Eugene the Martyr became a compound of the Pokrovsky Monastery, which is located in the village of Zavyalovo. All works on the improvement of the temple ended in 1995 with the construction of the bell tower, the bells for which were delivered from the Urals.
