Memorial complex "Monument of Glory"

ooh Plahotny, 29, Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk region, Russia

Description:

The Monument of Glory is one of the most magnificent monuments of Novosibirsk. It is dedicated to the Siberian participants of the Great Patriotic War and was officially opened in 1967. The author of the memorial complex, occupying an area of almost 2 hectares, is the Novosibirsk artist Chernobrovtsev.

The monument consists of a statue of a grieving mother, the Eternal Flame and 7 powerful 10-meter pylons, on which military scenes are engraved. On the opposite side of the pylons are engraved the names of 30,266 Novosibirsk citizens who died at the fronts. On the elevation between the pylons are placed 4 urns with land taken from places of bloody fighting.

Behind the memorial is the Alley of Glory with 100 fir trees planted in honor of the Novosibirsk Heroes of the Soviet Union.

In 1999, the monument “Unity of Front and Homeland” dedicated to Novosibirsk veterans of labor was opened here.
