Novosibirsk Reservoir - Ob Sea

Novosibirsk reservoir, Novosibirsk region

Description:

The Novosibirsk reservoir is located on the Ob River, also called the Ob Sea. It is represented by a large reservoir up to 200 km long, captures the Altai Territory and the Novosibirsk region.

Every year, masses of tourists rush to the coast from the adjacent cities of Kamen-na-Obi, Novosibirsk, Berdsk, from where it is most convenient to get by personal transport.

The beaches are equipped with modern infrastructure.

The described reservoir appeared in the 50s, when a dam was created for the Novosibirsk NPP.

For this purpose, the old town of Berdsk, about 200 villages, whose residents were transported to new places, were artificially flooded. After that, the new Berdsk was rebuilt, which took 5 years. The Sea of Ob was completely filled with water in a couple of years.

A large-scale forest-steppe zone was flooded, which caused many islets to appear on the reservoir. The most common of them are Semizarodny, Khokhlov Borok, Shlyapovsky, and also Stone.
