Monument to Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka

Description:

There are many monuments to classical music and literature in Novosibirsk, but the sculpture of Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka occupies a special place among them. A beautiful monument was erected in 1998 near the building of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory, which bears the name of the great composer. The authors are sculptor V.P. Grachev and architect O.D. Drozdetsky.

In 2007, in connection with the anniversary of the Conservatory, a complete reconstruction of the monument was carried out. Next to the figure of Glinka stood two small steles with images of the characters of his operas “Life for the Tsar” and “Ruslan and Lyudmila”: Ivan Susanin, Antonida, Chernomor and Ruslan.

Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka is depicted sitting on a bench, and many strive to sit next to Glinka, hug him and take a picture.
