Novosibirsk

Water tower on p.c. Marx

Description:

The building of the water tower on Vatutin Street, 29/1 in the Leninsky district of Novosibirsk, which gave the name to the whole district - "Tower", was built in 1938-1939. The building of the tower is recognized as an architectural monument of local importance.

The rapid growth of Novosibirsk in the 1920s led to the fact that the settlements of B. Krivoshchekovo, Bugra, Vertkovo, Jeresnaya, M. Krivoshchekovo and Perovo, located on the left bank of the Ob River, were included in the city. By the decision of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of October 20, 1930, the Zaobskaya part of Novosibirsk was formed, which by the resolution of the City Council of December 2, 1934 was renamed the Kirov district. In 1938-1939 the left bank water supply system was put into operation and a powerful water tower was built, located on one of the highest elevations of Novosibirsk.
