Chanovsk Museum of Local History

In February 1987, on the initiative of the Chanovsky RK CPSU, a large meeting was held with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and labor veterans, at which the question of organizing a museum in the river p. Chans.

Chanovsky Museum of Local Lore was inaugurated on November 7, 1987. The museum was located in a merchant building.

Funds of the museum are expanding, according to the trend of time it became clear that the museum is cramped on the former territory. The head of the Chanovsky district decided to provide the museum with another building. The area of the exhibition halls has doubled. Major repairs were made using modern finishing materials. Expositions, stands and interior decoration of the room began to meet new modern requirements.

The museum became a center of methodological assistance for heads of school museums, students and students. Every year the museum is visited by at least 3,000 people. Employees try to use various forms of scientific and educational work, taking into account the age characteristics of the audience. Young visitors are attracted not only by exhibitions and collections, but also by meetings with interesting people, environmental classes, and holidays. For young people, lessons of courage, classes on material sources, literary and local lore quizzes are held, for people of the older generation - musical evenings, meetings, club meetings.

Exhibition activity is an operational form of the museum’s participation in modern life. Exhibitions are organized from the funds of both the museum itself and private collections of residents of the district.
