Railway station of Novosibirsk

Description:

The main railway station of Novosibirsk is located in the railway district of the city. For the first time the movement of trains here was opened in 1894. The current station building was built in 1939 on the site of the former wooden one. The composition of the structure is a triumphal arch, which is framed by pilasters of the Tuscan order and crowned with a huge Attic.

In 2005, a suburban pavilion with a covered pedestrian bridge was erected nearby. Today, the Novosibirsk railway station with an area of 29 thousand square meters can accommodate almost 4 thousand passengers. On the facade of the building there are commemorative tablets telling about historical events associated with the railway station of Novosibirsk. Between the buildings in a glass hangar, a model of the steam locomotive "Agile", which worked in the middle of the 19th century on the Tsarskoye Selo railway, is installed.
