Royal fishing on Baikal
Description:
1st
Start of the cruise
In the morning we will meet you at the terminal of Irkutsk airport and, having waited for luggage, we will invite you to stay in the cabin of a comfortable minibus.
Before leaving the city, we will stop at the fishing shop and supermarket so you can stock up on everything you need.
To arrive in Irkutsk, we recommend you to use one of two suitable flights:
- Aeroflot, flight SU-1442; departure from Sheremetyevo at 21:25, arrival in Irkutsk, on the day of the tour, at 08:10.
- S7, flight C7-3017; departure from Domodedovo at 21:45, arrival in Irkutsk, on the day of the tour, at 08:25.
Within 4 hours we will overcome the steppes of the Ust-Ordyn Buryat Autonomous Okrug, reach the taiga valleys of the pass sharply contrasting with them through the Primorsky Range, and then overcome the mesmerizing Tazheran steppes, which store traces of ancient civilizations that passed on to us the traditions of shamanism.
On the way, as is customary in our lands, we will make a stop in a special shamanic place for the ritual of appeasing the spirits of Lake Baikal.
Here it is considered important to carry with you good intentions, to show respect for the power of the elements of Baikal and its spiritual embodiment in the Buryat culture.
Placement on the ship.
On board the ship we will be greeted by the captain and the cook.
First of all, the hospitable team will invite you to the table – there will be a welcome dinner for you.
Bring the moorings in and out!
On board the ship "Anna Victoria 2" for you will be organized the most decent level of comfort.
The ship is equipped with 6 comfortable guest cabins, a pleasant cabin campaign, a small sauna, a flybridge, a motor boat.
Built under Bruce Roberts license, Anna Victoria 2 is one of the best ships in its class.
Transition to the heart of Baikal.
We will head north and walk along the majestic seaside ridge in the west and the beautiful rocky capes of Olkhon in the east.
On this day you will get the first impression of the power and scale of Lake Baikal, the beauty of the Strait of Little Sea.
In the evening, it will be possible to organize the first fishing - on the Little Sea Harius.
For the night, we will also stop in the waters of the Small Sea to take a course north in the early morning of the next day.
2.
Transition to the northeastern shore of Baikal
The famous Chivyrkui Bay.
And after visiting Ushkanov, we will go to Chivyrkui, known for good catches of pike and perch.
Chivyrkui Bay is the warmest Bay of Baikal.
It is rather shallow and closed from open water by the Saint Nose Peninsula.
Fishing in Chivyrkui is organized from motor boats.
Here you can catch a trophy pike weighing more than 10 kilograms!
In the evening, as usual, we will heat the bath on the ship or find a Russian bath on the shore.
At dinner, we will exchange impressions after the first full day of traveling along Baikal and fishing, treat ourselves to dishes from fresh catch.
Then rest. The main fishing is ahead.
3
Transition to the rivers of northern Baikal
In the morning we will continue fishing in the Chivyrkui Bay, and in the afternoon our ship will go to the side of the Kabagni River, which will anchor in the evening.
The Kabaña River has two channels at the mouth, the first is calm, about 10 m wide, the second is faster and more powerful, up to 15 m wide.
These places are famous for good catches.
There's a harius catching here, lazy.
Here we will spend the night to start fishing early in the morning.
4.
Fishing in Cabaña
The most interesting thing will begin here – local rivers with the cleanest water harbor a rich and diverse fish world.
When the cool is good, the excitement on such a fishing trip goes off scale.
Kabanya descends from the Barguzin ridge and in the place where it flows into Baikal, is rich in good catches.
The best fishing in Cabaña is at the mouth.
Here you will need high (swamp) boots, and better - vaders; spinning with a set of sparkles and a cargo attitude (we will advise you in more detail in the preparation process).
Cabaña is famous for its catches of garius, lenk and taimen.
However, the last two species are Red Book, so after satisfying the excitement of another successful bite, we will release the fish.
While we will explore the mouth of the Cabaña, the guys from the escort group will prepare fresh fish on the coals, and in the evening we will have a delicious taiga dinner with fresh potatoes, a beam, and, of course, golden baked fish.
This evening we will discuss the first experience of going beyond the symbolic border – the transition to northern Baikal.
These are the places where connoisseurs of interesting fishing on mountain rivers tend to get.
The shores are taiga, wild, the water in the rivers is crystal clear.
With a skillful approach, it is possible to count on samples of more than 1.5 kg.
5
Fishing on the Tompuda Mountain River
After early fishing, the ship will move towards the Tompuda River, on which we will continue fishing in the Baikal rivers.
Here we organize an expedition along the river in 5-6 boats, each of which will be accompanied for your safety.
Fishing on Tompud always makes a strong impression on guests.
The name of the river speaks for itself: "Tompuda" means a whirlpool, there is a very powerful current.
The river is difficult, but accompanied by a person who “knows how to read it”, you will have a great chance of a good catch.
Here you can catch captured specimens of garius, weighing more than a kilogram, flax, weighing about 5-6 kilograms and taimen, weighing more than 10 kilograms.
For the best catch, we will go up the river in a water jet boat.
Here we will need a large supply of gloss and gear, as there are many cliffs on Tompud.
Here you already have the opportunity to catch trophy copies of tape and taimen.
However, this fish is a red book, so after satisfying the excitement of another successful bite, we will release the fish.
Anyway, at the evening table we will discuss the brightest moments of fishing on this day, celebrate the best results.
6
Fishing on the West Bank of Baikal
Early in the morning we will make the transition to the western shore of Lake Baikal and stop at the thermal resort of Cape Kotelnikovsky.
Here we will have a good rest, enjoying the beautiful landscape of thermal baths.
The uniqueness of the thermal mineral waters of the Kotelnikovsky resort is that, unlike mineral water from other sources, you can relax in Kotelnikovsky baths without time restrictions.
And all this time we will be able to observe the stunning panorama of Baikal and Barguzin Ridge.
After resting at the thermal resort, we will continue our journey and go along the west coast of Lake Baikal to the south, with stops at Cape Mushinai, Big and Small Spit.
Under favorable conditions, you can also count on a good catch in the mouths of streams, coastal lakes and open Baikal.
Part of the way will lie along the protected shores, on which you can meet the owner of the Siberian taiga - a brown bear.
On the seventh day we will have time to visit two more interesting places from the point of view of fishing - Cape Elokhin and the river Malaya Cheremshanka.
In the second half of the 7th day our ship will reach the Ushkany Islands, where we will see the Baikal seal in the wild.
Ushkanyi islands are a protected area, a favorite resting place of the seal.
Several times this reserved place tried to close from visiting tourists.
One of the main questions for scientists studying the fauna of Lake Baikal is how the seal ended up on Lake Baikal, thousands of kilometers from the nearest seas and oceans.
On Ushkany, we will take a walk along the eco-path to the place of observation of the seal from special shelters, accompanied by a researcher of the Baikal National Park.
Nerpa is quite shy, so watching it requires special care.

8.
Rest on the Small Sea
Small Sea is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places of Baikal.
It is a large strait (100 km) that separates Olkhon Island from the mainland.
If we return in time from northern Baikal, then on this day, if desired, you can visit a couple of the most iconic places.
This evening, before returning to Irkutsk, we will host the final farewell dinner with Baikal.
Without a doubt, such expeditions along the wild shores of Baikal always leave special impressions of the strength and beauty of Siberian nature, its richness and purity.
9.
Return to Irkutsk
Our way to Irkutsk will run in the opposite direction – through the Tazheran steppes, the Primorsky Range Pass and the Ust-Ordyn Autonomous Okrug.
On the way we will see small Buryat villages, get an idea of the life of ordinary residents of these places.
Travel time is about 4 hours.
Finally, let me say a few words about Irkutsk.
It is a beautiful old town with a rich history.
On the green streets there are centuries-old wooden merchant houses, majestic facades of mansions in the historical center of Irkutsk, hinting at the external similarity with the Northern Capital.
A large number of universities, museums, squares, architectural monuments.
In Irkutsk, we will take you where you need to go – to the airport or to the hotel.
We will help with the purchase of gifts for friends and relatives.
