The city of Irkutsk is located at the confluence of the Irkut River (hence the name) in the Angara.
Irkutsk was founded in 1661, received the status of a city in 1686.
Currently, Irkutsk is the cultural, historical, scientific and administrative center of the Irkutsk region.
Irkutsk is one of the five most visited cities of Russia by tourists.
The main attraction of Irkutsk, paradoxically it sounds, is Baikal, which is located at a distance of 55 km from the city center.
From other attractions, you can note the ancient buildings of Irkutsk.

Excursion to the Museum of Baikal Studies is one of the oldest museums in Russia, founded by Professor M.M. Kozhov.
The exposition of the museum presents a rich collection of flora and fauna of Baikal.
Hiking up the sightseeing mountain "Scallop", from where a panoramic view of the village and Lake Baikal opens.

A trip along the Noyon-Gol River. Sand dunes. Visiting nomads

Visit the nomads on the way.
48 km south of the pos. Khanha, on the east coast of the lake is the estuary of the Noyon-Gol River with picturesque small sand dunes on the sides of the valley.
These are the sand dunes closest to Khanh and a bay with a sandy beach.
In the swampy mouth, the river forms sleeves with a slow current, which are chosen for nesting ducks and swans.
At the mouth of the river there is a beautiful fishing.
To the right and left of the mouth there are magnificent places to set up a tent camp.
The Noyon-Gol River is formed from the confluence of the two rivers Ih-Noyon-Gol and Baga-Noyon-Gol.
The river valley with centuries-old larch trees is distinguished by magnificent landscapes.

Excursion to Terelge National Park (60 km from the city).
The park is famous for its numerous rocks, striking with their exotic shapes, reminiscent of: a hare, a sleeping dinosaur, reading a man with a book on his lap.
The original forms are obtained due to the weathering of granite, and, of course, human imagination.
The rock of Malchii-hal in the form of a giant turtle became a symbol of Terelge.
