Along the Great Baikal Trail by water.

Last year, our instructors conducted reconnaissance on kayaks on the waters of Lake Baikal. Of course, we could not bypass such a pearl of Russia with our campaigns. Baikal is beautiful, especially from the water. And the result of exploration was this route.

We will go kayaking along the coastline, where the Great Baikal Trail stretches - the most beautiful hiking route. A kind of Baikal analogue of the Lycian trail.

Since the route passes through the National Park, we will be very careful with nature. Our instructors love cleanliness and pristineness, and will show the environmental friendliness of the organization - we leave no traces.

We are waiting for marble quarries and abandoned villages of the Gulag, small villages and caves, many stories about the history of Baikal and, of course, its nature. This is not just a rafting along Baikal, but a real acquaintance with the spirit of Baikal, its legends and people.

On the lake we will go on comfortable and comfortable. These kayaks are a good compromise between speed, convenience and safety. They are stable, turning over accidentally is almost impossible. They are equipped with comfortable chairs and knee stops, the back will not hurt. The Khatangas are well-kept and easy to manage. At the same time, the speed is not much inferior to frame kayaks and kayaks.

Many explorers of Transbaikalia made their trips on kayakers. And by the way, the word "baidara" came from the Evenks living in these places. From the water you can see the whole coast - and muskrat minks at the very edge of the water, and grass, and trees, and the terrain itself. This is the real view of the researcher. And look the other way, and there are seals.

In the Bay of Peschanaya at this time blossoms and flowers, in the taiga swell and burst buds on trees, the time when it is just right to collect birch juice. The stream appears on the border of the water and the bears come out to eat them. The seals warm on the ice. Water at this time is bluest, as microorganisms have not yet had time to multiply.

And in May, Baikal is freed from ice. In April, the ice falls at the source of the Angara, and the last to clear the north of Lake Baikal, there the ice can be until early June.

Our route passes in the place that first clears the ice. Ice can swim past us, they can be found even in June. There may be strong winds and waves at this time, but we have two days to wait out the bad weather.

The water temperature at this time is 2 degrees, air is 10-15, at night frosts are possible! Keep warm, Baikal loves the prepared. We will cook on gas tiles, but sometimes at the stake, when the rules of the national park allow it. We will live in houses on campgrounds and spend five nights in tents. To listen to Baikal night and not freeze.

Near the villages catches communication and the Internet, best of all MTS and Megafon. Half of the route will be “out of reach.”

And navigation on Baikal will open in mid-May. Therefore, at this time there will be no large groups of tourists, both our compatriots and Chinese. Just our little group living in harmony with this place.
