Odoev is one of the most interesting urban-type settlements in the Tula region, not without reason it is included in the list of historical cities of Russia. Even in the XIV century, Odoyev was the capital of the Odoyev principality, and the Odoyev princes and their squads were distinguished in battles by unsurpassed courage and were famous throughout Russia for their bravery. The Cathedral Mountain above the Upa River is a unique reserved historical zone of the ancient settlement, from which the streets of modern Odoev fan and from which our acquaintance with the ancient Odoev will begin. Odoev is also the “capital” of the unique art craft of Russia – Filimonov’s toy. A few kilometers in the picturesque places of Upa is located Anastasov monastery.
