October Historical and Local Lore Museum named after A.P. Shokurov

Founded in 1957. The museum was started by the archaeological collection of A.P. Shchokurov, an archaeologist, artist, poet, publicist, in which the materials of archaeological expeditions to Bashkiria were presented. The archaeological collection still forms the main part of the museum collections (more than 15 thousand units), which included materials based on the results of excavations in the territory adjacent to the city in the 55-60s. The archaeological monument "Mullino", which in the 60s attracted the attention of scientists of Ufa, Kazan, Moscow, Kuibyshev, was a slice of historical epochs from the Paleolithic to the metal era. Shokurov’s publications are an integral part of the museum’s scientific heritage. Among them is the archaeological map of Bashkiria. The permanent exposition of the museum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the city contains several sections related chronologically and in meaning: paleontology, archaeology, ethnography, local history. The exposition makes it possible to vary the topics of excursions: from the general survey to specific topics of interest. The second building of the museum (the building became a museum in 1995) houses an art gallery and a department of nature of the native land. The staff of the museum works closely with the schools of the city and focuses on the needs of the school curriculum. On the basis of the museum, seminars are held for teachers of schools on culture of Bashkiria, history, biology, drawing. For schoolchildren there is a lecture hall on world art culture using the museum video library.

The building of the central building of the museum is located on the 1st floor of a 3-storey residential building built in the style of neoclassicism in the 50s of the XX century.
