About the company:
Omsk Academic Drama Theatre is one of the oldest drama theaters in Siberia. Initially, the building of the theater was built by the merchant Bykov from wood in 1875.
The new building of the theater was built on the site of the burned-out theater in 1882, but this building was not final - it was repeatedly demolished and rebuilt. In 1898, a competition was announced for the design of a new theater, in which the project of the engineer Khvorinov won. In 1915, a new theater building was built. In its niches were placed busts of Chekhov and Tolstoy, on the pediment – the sculpture of Vladimir Winkler “Winged Genius”.
The building of the theater is built with eclectic features - after all, the author, building a classic building, used baroque motifs: a variety of complex turrets with windows and other complex volumes.
