Omsk State Musical Theatre

ooh Duma, 2, Omsk, Omsk region 644024, Russian Federation

About the company:

The countdown of the history of the Omsk State Musical Theatre began in 1946, when the Council of People’s Commissars issued a decree on the creation of a musical comedy theater in the city. The new theater was created on the basis of a group of actors of the Stalingrad Musical Comedy Theater, which was in Omsk during the Great Patriotic War. They laid the creative foundation of the theater.

Over the next decades of the theater, which at first had the status of a musical comedy theater, not only the best examples of foreign classics sounded from its stage, but also many hitherto unknown musical works of domestic composers. Many of them are little known today, and even thirty or forty years ago they sounded and delighted the viewer. In 1961, the theater premiered the first children's musical performance, and in 1968, the Omich saw the first ballet.

Nowadays, the Omsk State Musical Theatre is one of the leading creative groups of the Siberian region, actively tours neighboring cities, is engaged in educational and charitable activities. His repertoire includes several dozen performances of various musical trends, among which the leading place is occupied by the creations of domestic authors.
