Lubinsky prospect
Kirov administrative district, Omsk, Omsk region, Russia
Description:
Lubinsky Avenue is one of the most beloved and busiest streets in Omsk. On the holidays, it is on this street that various concerts and other events are arranged.
On the avenue there is a monument to Lyubushka, in whose honor the avenue was named. The history of the name of the prospectus is romantic and at the same time sad. Previously, this place was a grove, which was laid here by the Governor-General of Western Siberia Gasford, and the locals called it Lubinskaya – after the name of the Governor’s wife, Lyubov Fedorovna. Later on the site of the groves began to build stone houses with shops on the lower floors. Thus, the grove was gradually cut down, and buildings grew in its place.
On the avenue was built the hotel "Russia", a restaurant, a cinema, trading houses of the brothers Ganshin and Ovsyannikov (now the modern building of the Medical Academy), Morozov shop.
