ooh 9, Omsk, Omsk region 644024, Russian Federation

Description:

On the banks of the Irtysh River there is a picturesque mansion that once belonged to the famous Omsk merchant Batyushkov. The building was built in 1901 by order of a merchant who did not even suspect that his house would go down in the history of the state. But in this building during the Civil War, in 1919, was the famous Admiral Kolchak. That is why the second name of the monument is Kolchak House.

After Kolchak, declared the Supreme Ruler of Russia, settled in Omsk with his headquarters, he proclaimed Omsk the capital of Russia. Despite the fact that less than a year later, Omsk was captured by the Red Army, it remained in history as one of the Russian capitals. As for the Kolchak House, its fate was not easy. In the summer of 1919, an attempt was made on the admiral. Kolchak was not injured, but as a result of a strong explosion, his residence was badly destroyed.

For a long time, local residents and connoisseurs of history seemed that the mansion was not destined to find a second life. However, in the late 1980s, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, during which not only the appearance, but also the interior decoration was restored. Nowadays, in the mansion of Batyushkov there is a registry office, and the building pleases the eyes of Omich and guests of the city with its impressive dimensions and beautiful architectural forms.
