Plumbing monument
Description:
The monument to plumbing, popularly known as "Stepan" or "Stepanych", was erected on City Day in 1998.
The monument was commissioned by Mayor Valery Roschupkin, who brought the idea from Bratislava, where the same monument stands. Worked on the monument sculptors Vakhitov and Noryshev. As a result of their work, they depicted a bronze man in a helmet who leaned out of a sewer hatch.
Of course, the Omsk monument is somewhat different from the Bratislava one in that a good-natured smile and a dreamy look are visible on the face of the Russian plumber. There is a popular belief among the people - if you hug a plumber tighter, problems with plumbing will not overtake your house. It is also said that on holidays in front of the monument put a glass of vodka.
