Park sculpture “Dynamic equilibrium” or the Libra of Being
Description:
In this sculpture, the author reflected human desires, his endless rush from extreme to extreme. Alexander Kapralov used in it the main symbols of his work: the throne, the cross and the stairs. The scales themselves are a huge cross, its vertical axis is represented in the form of a ladder. At its top, the author placed a throne that swayed a little as a symbol of power. On each of the scales, which are in a state of equilibrium, there are cells hanging, and in them there are smaller cells.
In the cage on the right are figures of animals and people, and the left is empty. On the crossbar of the scales, Kapralov placed many different figures. Some of them can be recognized, others need to think. The sculpture is filled with a variety of semantic shades, and the presence of chains gives it a more explicit philosophical meaning. With this work, the sculptor wanted to show people’s desire for harmony, to reflect how complex the choice between material and spiritual is.
