Fire Tower
Borodino Street, 61, Omsk, 644086
Description:
The fire tower is a famous symbol of Omsk. The brick building was built in 1915 by engineer Gorbachev on the project of Khvorinov.
From this tower, round-the-clock observation of the city was conducted in order to timely respond to a fire. In those days, the tower was practical and relevant, as almost all houses were wooden.
The tower reaches a height of 32 meters, which before the revolution gave it the opportunity to remain the tallest tower in Omsk. On the second floor of the tower was the apartment of the fire chief of Omsk. On the house hangs a memorial plaque, on which the years of construction of the tower are carved.
In 2002, a fireman’s dummy was installed on the tower, which harmoniously completed the image of the fire system of the last century in Omsk.
