Maryanovsk District Historical and Local Lore Museum

The beginning of the history of the Maryanovsk Museum was 1988, when, by the decision of the Department of Culture of the regional executive committee, work began on the creation of a public museum of historical profile, the main theme was the battles near Maryanovka in May-June 1918. In 1995, the rural branches of the district historical and local history museum became the Museum of the History of Horse Breeding and the Museum of the Yuzhny Joint Stock Company.

Museum of the History of Horse Breeding (P. Konezavodsky). The exposition of the museum includes sections on the history of the creation and development of the breeding farm “Home Factory No. 40”, shows the main breeds of horses, breeding work, achievements and awards of horse breeders.

The Museum of Combat and Labor Glory of JSC "South" (Bogolyubovka village). The exposition of the museum presents material about the countryman Hero of the Soviet Union I.S. Ponomarenko and materials from the history of settlement of the village - one of the first settlements in the district.

In the following years, new exhibitions were opened in the museum:

• “Russian hut” – on the basis of ethnographic items, the interior of a peasant house was recreated;
• “History of fire business” – a passenger car of the sample of the first half of the XX century is equipped for visiting.

The tradition of holding museum holidays based on folk traditions is laid. An educational program is being implemented on the basis of a subscription visit to certain groups of students.

Museum funds have more than 12 thousand exhibits. The permanent expositions of the local history department reflect the history of the development and settlement of the Omsk Priirtyshye, the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. There is an open-air museum. It offers visitors the halls of the art department of the museum (a separate building), where works by both local and Omsk artists, objects of modern decorative and applied creativity are presented. In the same building there are local history expositions “Nature of the region”, “History of the district Department of public education”.
