About the company:
The museum of the “magician of the word”, the creator of the “gallery of saints and righteous Russia” is located in a house preserved on the site of the city estate of the writer’s father S. D. Leskov. The noble mansion, which is a historical monument, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, conveys the charm of the legendary corner of the Eagle - the Noble Nest. The only museum in Russia N.S. Leskov was opened on July 2, 1974. The exposition, which is called “In the world of Leskov”, is unique in its saturation with authentic materials. Visitors to the museum can see the personal belongings of the writer, his furniture, books from the memorial library, the first publications and lifetime editions of his works, portraits and photographs of Leskov, his relatives and friends. The exposition of the museum reveals the artistic world of a writer of original, bright, full of rebellious passions and at the same time merciful, compassionate, thirsty for living active good. The richest collection of Leskov memoirs allowed to recreate in one of the halls of the museum the situation of the last St. Petersburg office of the writer - an enthusiastic collector of rare books of paintings, watches, boxes. Here, incidentally, recall the lines written about Leskov L. Y. Gurevich: “All his environment, as well as his language, everything that made up his life, was motley, fantastic, unexpected and whole in itself, as the only temple of Basil the Blessed.” The museum collection includes a number of invaluable works by such remarkable illustrators as B. Kustodiev, N. Kuzmin, Kukryniksy, A. Tyurin, S. Kosenkov, some of them are exhibited at the exhibition “Leskov in Fine Arts”. About the founders of the museum collection: the son and biographer of the writer A.N. Leskov, the pupil of the writer V.I. Dolina and her daughter K.A. Dunina tells the exhibition “Family Memory”. The exposition of the museum contains exclusive material about the great-granddaughter of the writer T.Y. Leskova, a talented ballerina, a wonderful ballet teacher. About the importance of the Leskov House-Museum for the Orel region, for Russia we will be told the words of the famous forest expert from St. Petersburg L.G. Chudnova: “This house for us Russians – for all – should be sacred.”
