Tower with chimes on the street Soviet
Russia, Orenburg, 27 Sovetskaya Street
Description:
The tower with a clock and weather vane, in the form of a bird that opened its wings, appeared on the main pedestrian street of Orenburg not so long ago, but managed to become one of its main attractions. The history of the construction of this multi-tiered tower of red brick with a height of almost thirty-five meters is quite dramatic.
The first watch was the quarantine clock. Back in 1985, they were made at the Krivoy Rog watch factory according to the drawings of Nikolai Kuznetsov, who restored the clock on the tower of the Museum of History of Orenburg. To the two hundred fiftieth anniversary of the city in 1993, it was decided to build a clock tower on Sovetskaya Street. The project of the building was prepared by Orenburg architect Alexander Ivanov. However, due to lack of funding, the construction of the tower was interrupted, the building was completed only in 1997, and finishing work continued until 2005. For the same reason, it was not possible to implement plans to equip the clock with moving figures.
Nevertheless, today this beautiful building, perfectly fit into the architectural ensemble of Sovetskaya Street, has become one of the local landmarks and attractions. In the building of the clock tower is a trading house.
