Topol Garden
Russia, Orenburg region, the city of Orenburg, Park Avenue
Description:
The history of the Park "Topol" in the city of Orenburg begins in 1888. Then, after another devastating fire, the city Duma decided to set up a garden on Karavan-Saray Square, so that in the future the trees could prevent the spread of flames.
The device of the garden became possible due to the development of water supply in the city, and new pipes were specially laid for watering the Topols. On the sandy soil of the square were planted "khvalyn" poplars, which quickly grew. Planting the garden, among other things, created the necessary jobs at the time.
The garden quickly became one of the city’s favorite walks. Rectangular in plan, it covers an area of about three and a half hectares. Initially, white and black poplars, oaks, aspens and elms grew in the garden. But from the original plantations to the present day, only four trees have survived. By the middle of the last century, the garden ceased to be a poplar garden, and in the eighties of the twentieth century, the reconstruction of the Topols was carried out - more than seventeen species of trees were planted. Today in the garden there are many attractions and carousels, a mini-zoo, there are regular festive festivities.
