Description: The museum was opened on December 18, 1936 at the Pavlovsk Union of Metalworking Artels. Originally called Industrial and reflected the history of the steel industry in the famous Pavlovsk artisanal district. In 1980 it received state status. Today, metal products make up a quarter of its holdings. Unique in its size and variety collection of locks and knives. In the halls of the museum, a giant castle weighing 50 kg and an “invisible” locking a needle eye weighing 0.09 g are demonstrated; curly locks, with secrets; a folding knife “pig”, including 100 items; knife models, the idea of creating which was born in Pavlovo. A record number of knives – 143 – was used to create a model of the Kremlin tower. Ancient Pavlovo, scenes of his life, as if come to life in the paintings of Academician of painting I.S. Kulikov, in the historical and household complex "The family of a handicraft locker at work."

Building(s): The museum is located on the Oka embankment in an architectural monument of regional significance - the former estate of merchant II Guild V.I. Gomulin (1885, eclectic). The estate is closed in the form of an irregular rectangle formed by the buildings of the house, a carriage wing and a fence with two arched gates. This is the only estate in Pavlovo with a developed spatial structure and a complex silhouette. The decoration of the building is plastic and diverse: ornaments of red brick in combination with white stone, artistic metal (gate grilles and roof fences, cast iron canopies). Magnificent interior decoration of the house: marble window sills, decorative ovens; each hall has its own pattern of artistic stucco and set parquet.

The museum is located in the historical center of Pavlov, where the old planning structure and buildings are largely preserved, surrounded by organically combined buildings of different times and styles. Among them are architectural monuments: the building of the patrimonial office of the counts Sheremetev /2nd floor of the XVIII century, Baroque-classicism /, the Resurrection Church /1778, Russian narrow-minded /, the Ascension Church / 1795, Baroque /, the house of the buyer N.V. Ketkin /2nd floor of the XIX century, eclectic /, the house of the manufacturer A.M. Terebin /1910, modern /. On the territory of the city there are natural monuments: in a beautiful place on the banks of the Oka, the park "Distant Krucha" with a regular layout /laid in 1893 /, the arboretum of the Pavlovsk mechleshoz /created in 1958-1959 /. Opposite the city, in Zaochya, golden beaches, bay meadows, oak trees, an extensive forest area of the Tumbotinsky State Natural Complex Reserve with a natural monument - the picturesque karst lake St. Tumbotinskoe.
