Monument to Lermontov in Tarkhany

Tarkhany, village of Lermontovo, Belinsky district, Penza region, Russia

Description:

The monument to the poet M. Y. Lermonov was erected in Tarkhany on June 9, 1985. Located on the territory of the museum-reserve near the road that leads to the manor house.

The sculptor of the bronze statue is O. Komov, and the architect is N. Komov. The creators captured a unique moment of reflection of the poet. Lermontov is depicted not in officer uniform, but in simple clothes. It seems as if the poet just sat down to rest. The monument to Mikhail Yurievich perfectly combines with the surrounding nature, becoming the center of the architectural ensemble.

The State Museum of Tarhana is a historical and cultural monument of national importance. In this place passed the young years of Lermontov, here the poet learned about the diversity of life of peasants and enjoyed unity with nature. Mikhail Yurievich seems to still live here - so harmonious with the environment and attractive image of a brooding poet.
