p. Soviet, Penza, Penza region 440026, Russian Federation

Description:

The monument "Wires", the second name of which is "Farewell", is installed in the center of Penza in memory of all participants of the Great Patriotic War. The sculptural composition consists of three figures - a man going to the front and bowing before him in the arms of a woman and a small boy. The family says goodbye before a long separation, as the father goes to the front.

The place that was chosen for the installation of the monument was formerly occupied by a conscription point, from which more than six thousand soldiers from different settlements of the Penza region went to war. The base of the monument is surrounded by a rectangular pedestal, in which metal capsules are mounted. They contain land brought from European countries where soldiers from Penza fought.

Just a few meters from the monument "Wires" is a memorial sign that appeared on the square a little earlier. In a large stone mounted marble book, the pages of which are engraved verses written by the Penza poetess, whose father died at the front. The monument is surrounded by a square of forty birches planted by the residents of the city for the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory.
