Belinsky District Museum of Local Lore

Russia, Belinsky, Lenina Street

About the company:

The museum’s collection includes more than 3,160 items. Belinsky District Museum of Local Lore works in the form of a non-profit institution of historical specialization, that is, it does not have as the main goal of its activity the extraction of profit and does not distribute the profit received among the participants.

The museum first opened its doors in 1938 with the support of N. K. Krupskaya. At that time, he was based only in the house where the family of the famous critic lived. Now the museum owns three historical buildings located on the territory.

It presents the centuries-old history of the city and the stages of life and creativity of the critic. The city itself was founded in 1780 by decree of Empress Catherine II. Then the Penza governorate was formed, consisting of 13 districts. She personally approved the plan for the construction of the city, where four broad and six cross streets were to appear.

The State Museum-Estate of V.G. Belinsky is a great storehouse of history. A huge number of exhibits, each of which has its own history, is fascinating. The story of the guide takes away from the real world for long hours, because the territory of the museum is huge and you can not tell everything even in three hours.
