About the company:
The Museum of one painting named after G.V. Myasnikov opened its doors to visitors in 1983. This is a unique museum, which has no analogues not only in Russia, but probably all over the world. The main feature of the museum is the absence of a permanent exhibition. Guests of the museum can see only one painting, before the demonstration of which a slide film dedicated to the life of the artist is shown. While watching the film, visitors get a detailed idea not only about the time when the author of the presented picture created, but also about what kind of person he was, what he devoted his work to.
The author of the idea of creating such a museum was Georg Vasilyevich Myasnikov, who held the post of second secretary of the Penza regional party committee. His memory was immortalized in 2002, when the museum was named in his honor and a plaque appeared on the wall. According to the rating of the Russian version of the famous Forbes magazine, compiled a couple of years ago, the Penza Museum of one painting occupies a high place among the six best museums in the world dedicated to a single subject.
Among the works that were exhibited in the museum at different times, there were famous paintings: "The capture of the snow town", "Peter I interrogates Prince Alexei in Peterhof", "Portrait of F. I. Chaliapin", as well as works by Repin, Petrov-Vodkin, Levitan, Shishkin, Savrasov, Rembrandt, Titian and many other outstanding masters.
