To the capital of the fountains we will go along the Peterhof road. In the XVIII - XIX centuries it was the most beautiful road of the Russian Empire. Peter I wanted the road not to be inferior in splendor and grandeur to the road from Paris to Versailles. He distributed plots along the road to his associates and ordered to build palaces and estates. Some of them have survived.
On the way to Peterhof, we will see the Narva Triumphal Gate, the unique fence of Alfred Parland, the dacha of Catherine II’s associate Catherine Dashkova, pass by the Trinity-Sergius Desert where the outstanding Russian diplomat Gorchakov is buried, admire the restored Constantine Palace (one of the existing residences of the current head of state), the Petrovsky wooden palace in Strelna.
