Our way will begin with the exit to the Bay of Rakova and we will go to the gates of Avacha Bay in the open ocean.
Avacha Bay is recognized as one of the largest and most beautiful bays in the world.
From here you can see the Koryak, Avachinsky and Vilyuchinsky volcanoes. Along the northern shore of the bay stretches Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
On the way, we are waiting for Zavoiko Bay, Slut Bay, Camp Bay and Cape Mayachny.
The first stop is the famous Three Brothers Rocks. According to legend, in time immemorial, these stone pillars were beautiful young men belonging to one of the local tribes. The inhabitants were suffering greatly from the tsunami, and the brothers decided to protect their people from the giant waves. Standing at the entrance to the bay, they did not allow the tsunami to penetrate it. That's how they still stand.
Transition to the open ocean (Avacha Bay) to Starichkov Island and inspection of bird bazaars. We'll go around it from all sides and see the birds from the boat.
Off the coast there are chains of small kekura islands. Starichkov has two of them: Guard and Sentinel. The island itself is a nature monument and reserve, so landing on the shore is allowed only for scientific purposes. On this small island there are 44 nesting colonies of 11 species of sea colonial birds, and it got its name from the birds of the Staricans. The entire island is surrounded by coastal reefs and rocks, on which seals are often found.
The next stop is fishing at Cape Cool. And you can catch here harehead, blue perch, flax, halibut, flounder, pollock, cod, bull - depending on the month and fishing luck. A trophy caught by you personally, a caring captain will serve for lunch, and for dessert you will be offered a crab cooked on sea water. All the catch after a walk you can take with you.
We go further in the direction of the mysterious Russian Bay, namely to the rookery of the flock.
Transition to Cape Kekurny and inspection of the rookery of sea lions (sea lions).
Sivuchi live in harems and sometimes arrange fights among themselves. These sea lions are the largest members of the family of eared seals.
Here we will stop for lunch, and those who wish can fish from the boat. Having admired the views, having rested and dined, we go on the way back.
A little history:
Although they are not threatened with extinction, they are a protected species. In the Red List, IUCN is included in the EN A1b category - the danger of extinction in the near future.
Russkaya Bay (until 1952, the Itelmen name Akhomten) is beautiful and interesting for its industrial potential, sheltered among the hills and banks covered with cedar and alder pillars, looks like a fjord. Such a successful navigational combination made the bay an attractive refuge for seafarers during storms. If you are lucky, in the summer in the ocean you can see the largest marine life - whales and killer whales.
On the way back we visit Grandma Stone and Quiet Bay.
Quiet Bay is one of the calmest bays in the water area of the Avacha Bay. This small and very cozy cove surrounded by rocks. Around - a picturesque view, beautiful surroundings. Spectacular views open to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The island of Babushkin Stone is an island of nesting sea birds. He received his name for a kind of sloping plateau, published from a distance similar to a scarf, tied on the head of an old woman. The island is a kekur (pillar-shaped rock of natural origin), surrounded by a system of underwater grottoes.
18:00: Return to the pier.
