Climbing the Mutnovsky volcano
Description:
Mutnovsky volcano (2324 m) is represented by four merged cones, the tops of which were destroyed by eruptions of different nature. On the west side there is a crater - an active funnel, which is the main site of modern activity of the volcano. The volcano is unique in that it allows people to easily see the active volcano from the inside! Active fumaroles, steam emissions, mud boilers, mineral formations, volcanic sulfur, fantastic volcanic landscape put this place on a par with the best volcanic manifestations of the world. The river Vulcanaya, cuts through the bottom of the northern crater and at the exit forms an 80-meter waterfall, and below forms a deep canyon - Ovrag Dangerous. The canyon and waterfall are of global importance as natural monuments. The opportunity to get by road to the place from where the walking tour is made is only in summer, and in the rest of the year you can see the volcano only by helicopter.
PROGRAMME
07:00 Departure from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on off-road vehicles. Arrival. Lunch. Safety briefing. Climbing the Mutnovsky volcano. Excursion to the crater of the volcano, to fumarole sites, mud boilers, crater lake and “Active funnel”. Lunch (lunch - dry rations) on the slope of the volcano. Descent. Ascent and descent with a tour in the crater takes 7-7.5 hours. At the request and physical condition of the group, it is possible to descend through the Dangerous ravine with an excursion to the waterfall (80 m) in the Dangerous canyon. The total time is 8-8.5 hours, depending on the state of the access road.
21:00 Return to camp. Dinner. Departure to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
22:00 Arrival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
