Volcano Aag - "Wild Paths"
Description:
Volcano Aag (2310 m) and its side cone Arik (2166 m) are strongly eroded by glacier and erosion. There are dizzying steep cliffs and deep stones and ditches up to 30-50 m high and up to 200-400 m deep.
This spectacular spectacle distinguishes Aag and Arik from their neighbors - Koryak and Avachinsky volcanoes.
Currently, volcanoes are considered extinct.
Due to the inexhaustibility of the route, the complete absence of people and traces of their stay throughout the journey, an indescribable sense of solitude, mystery, and deafening primordial silence remains.
The route from the base camp (car parking place) runs along the bed of one of the dry rivers, with the intersection of the alder and cedar beds, and leads to one of the extrusions of the Arik volcano, which is climbed. Part of the route passes through a tract with bizarre columnar fragments of lava, dips in eroded lava flows, and stone blockages with volcanic tuff.
For safety, the group is accompanied by two guides.
The length of the pedestrian part of the track is 12.6 km.
Mounting 810 m.
The highest point of one of the observation platforms is 1480 m.
It is possible to extend the route, with the accompanying climb.
