Avacha Bay
petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamchatka Territory
Description:
Avacha Bay is considered one of the most beautiful and convenient harbors on the Pacific coast near the Kamchatka Peninsula.
On the northern shore of the bay rises the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Due to the fact that the military bases of the Russian Navy are located in the city, the bay is closed, and special permission is required for sea trips.
At the entrance to the bay are the famous rocks, the so-called "Three Brothers", which are considered a symbol of the bay and the nearby city.
The bay in shape resembles a circle and goes deep into the peninsula for twenty kilometers. It is well protected from natural phenomena, since it is connected to the ocean by a rather narrow strait. The shores of the bay are of volcanic origin. Its coast is permeated with small coves. Two rivers flow into the bay: Avacha and Paratunka.
From here there is a beautiful view of three volcanoes: Vilyuchinsky, Avachinsky and Koryaksky.
