Monument "Here begins Russia"
Elizovo, Kamchatka Krai, Russia
Description:
The monument “Here begins Russia” depicts a bear with a bear. The fact that they decided to perpetuate is not in vain, because bears are rightfully considered the hallmark of Kamchatka. Bears symbolize not only Kamchatka, but also the whole of Russia, and the monument reminds the Kamchatka residents that they are not separated from the mainland.
The monument is installed on budget funds in the vicinity of the city of Elizovo, near the Shumaninsky crossroads. The bear and the bear are carved out of life-size stone. The mother bear has salmon in her teeth. On the stone monument there is an inscription: “Here begins Russia”.
Although the monument was erected not so long ago, in 2011, vandals have already twice managed to spoil it. They broke the sculpture or took the fish from the bear. Now the monument is under round-the-clock video surveillance.
