About the company:
The city of Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky (originally Petrovsky Plant) is located in the west of the Trans-Baikal Territory. On October 10, 1980, on the eve of the celebration of the 155th anniversary of the uprising in Senate Square, the Decembrists Museum was inaugurated. The exposition is located in the former two-storey house of the wife of the Decembrist S.P. Trubetsky - Princess Ekaterina Ivanovna Trubetskaya.
The scientific concept and thematic and exposition plan were developed by Leningraders (author – A.D. Margolis, senior researcher at the GMIL). Artistic design was also engaged in a group of Leningrad artists. The museum has become a true decoration of the city, being one of its main attractions.
Currently, the museum presents an exposition located in 5 halls, 3 of which are devoted to the history of the Decembrist movement from the first secret societies of Russia to the end of the Siberian exile. In the other two rooms there are rooms with elements of the interior of the living room and study in the house of E.I. Trubetskaya, characteristic of the houses of exiled Decembrists.
The exposition includes more than 600 exhibits that reflect the history of the Decembrists, their stay in prisons in Transbaikalia, socio-political, pedagogical and literary activities. The funds of the museum during its work were significantly replenished. They have about 1,940 units of the main and 3,345 units of auxiliary funds: drawings, documents, watercolors, graphics, books, household items.
