About the company:

The Music Theatre of the Republic of Karelia is located in Petrozavodsk. The building of the theater was designed by the famous architect Brodsky, and the front part is decorated with relief images made according to the sketches of the outstanding sculptor Konenkov.

The first shows in the theater began in November 1955, when the operetta “Free Wind”, written by Dunaevsky, was shown. For more than 60 years of its existence, the theater presented performances of different genres - from classics to modern operetta, from musicals to comedy, from ballet to opera.

The audience can see not only productions of famous composers, but also local Karelian musicians.

From 2006 to 2009, the theater building was completely reconstructed. During the same period, work was carried out on the creation of professional troupes of vocal and ballet, the formation of an orchestra from the best musicians of the republic, as well as the selection of talented choral performers.

The auditorium of the theater can accommodate more than 600 people. At the same time, the team, consisting of artists, administration and technical staff, has up to three hundred employees.
