Puppet Theater of the Republic of Karelia

Russia, Karelia, Petrozavodsk, Karl Marx, 19

About the company:

One of the oldest children’s theaters in Russia, the Puppet Theatre of the Republic of Karelia is located in Petrozavodsk.

The puppet theater was founded in December 1935 on the initiative of actors Kogan, Parchment and others, who at one time took skills lessons and the famous Soviet actor Obraztsov.

At one time, a large building was built specifically for the theater, almost in the city center. The money for the construction was allocated by the state and the administration of the republic. Today it is a beautiful modern theater complex, which has all the latest technical equipment. The Puppet Theatre together with the National Theatre create a single composition.

Actors of the theatrical troupe perform not only on the territory of the republic, but also far beyond its borders, leaving for Russian cities and European countries.

Most of the performances are intended for children, but the repertoire includes performances suitable for viewing by the whole family.
