Petrozavodsk

Karelian Santa Claus, Husky and Deer

Description:

On the way from Petrozavodsk to the Fatherland of Karelian Father Frost Talvi Ukko, I will tell you about the brightest “highlights” and secrets of our northern region: why the Sami came here, why they created petroglyphs, who are Karelians and Veps, how the Karelian language differs from Finnish and why Peter I founded the capital of our region on the shore of Lake Onega.

We will go through the territory of my favorite Pryazhinsky national district, where I grew up, so I will tell you how the names Shuya, Besovets and Chalna are translated, as well as the legend of the appearance of Talvi Ukko, how it differs from the Finnish Joulupukka and the Russian Father Frost. You will learn who is a cair, how Alaskan Husky differ from Siberian and Malamute, who is Balto and when you can see the Northern Lights.

On the territory of the patrimony of the Karelian Father Frost you will have free time, and I will give all the necessary hints: what to see and what each program is interesting for. Here everyone will find entertainment to their liking!

Inspect every corner of the patrimony: look at Lumikki Palace, Talvi Ukko residence, visit the sled dog nursery and reindeer farm, race with the breeze on a dog sled or look at a pet farm.

At any time of stay in the patrimony you can taste traditional hearty Karelian pies and drink aromatic herbal tea - it gives warmth, vivacity and a great mood. If you suddenly freeze, in the souvenir shop you can warm up with Karelian balm and tincture on Karelian berries. Take a walk, take photos, breathe fresh air, ride Finnish sleighs and slides (in winter). In other seasons, all the facilities are also accessible and no less interesting.

On the way to Petrozavodsk we will listen to Karelian music, guess Karelian riddles and return to the capital of Karelia. On the way back, we will also stop at the Shungita Center, located on the outskirts of the city, where even locals can not get there, as public transport does not go there.

“Shungite Center” is a unique combination of a museum, a place for rest and recreation. The museum staff will hold a mini-presentation of shungite and its properties for you, you will visit the shungite room, and at the end of the tour you will taste willow tea and hot drinks. On the spot, if desired, you can buy souvenirs from shungite at the price of the manufacturer.

We will pick you up and take you to the address of stay or wishes in Petrozavodsk, as well as give all recommendations on museums, cafes and activities in your free time.
