Ruskeala Marble Canyon in Karelia

Welcome to the Northern Ladoga region - an amazing natural treasure of Karelia. Ladoga decorates the first largest lake in Europe - Ladoga. In these parts is the marble canyon of Ruskeala, one of the main tourist attractions of Karelia. That's where we're going.

Our path passes through the Valley of Heroes. Not everyone knows that in these places there were fierce battles during the Winter War of 1939-1940 between the USSR and Finland.

3.5 hours after leaving Petrozavodsk, we arrive at Ruskeal.

But let’s start not with Ruskeala, but with waterfalls. Karelia is the birthplace of the largest waterfalls. We will see Tokhmin or Ruskeal waterfalls. The famous Soviet film “And the Dawns Here Are Quiet...” was shot here. Mandatory photo for memory and excursion. Please note: we will arrive at the waterfalls, from where they can be photographed and inspected, but now the waterfalls developed "Eco-Trail" on hinged bridges - the passage on it is not included in the cost of the tour and is paid additionally, if desired, directly on the territory of the waterfalls (400 rubles / adult, 300 rubles / children, students, pensioners).

And here is the marble canyon of Ruskeala. He is also associated with the Finns. A unique quarry, which, according to one version, just the Finns, retreating during the war, and flooded with water from nearby rivers.

Luxury views, trails, caves - for a tourist there is everything. In summer, you can for an additional fee ride boats, climb over the canyon on a rope bridge, as well as dive. For the fullness of emotions, you can buy a ticket for “trolls” – the longest bungalow jump in Europe.
