Monument to Y.V. Andropov
Description:
The monument to Yuri Andropov, former General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee and Chairman of the KGB of the USSR, was opened in Petrozavodsk on the Day of the Republic of Karelia. Andropov worked in this region for almost 12 years, since 1940, at Komsomol and party posts, and the creation of the monument is timed to his 90th anniversary, which falls on June 15.
